History
of CHILDHOPE-ZAMBIA
The inspiration of establishing
CHILDHOPE-ZAMBIA in 1998 came from communities in the Southern
Province of Zambia when they realized that most of the children
in their communities were vulnerable and the number of orphans
and vulnerable children was increasing. Communities realized
that most of the parents were dying but did not know exactly
what was leading to their deaths. The communities also realized
that most of its children lacked education, health, nutrition
and other basic needs. It was during the first weeks of mobilization
when the communities became conscious that most of the children’s
parents died as a result of HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Because of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, most of the children in
the communities became AIDS victims and orphans. Since then,
CHILDHOPE assistance to the children and the communities has
been long –term community development and poverty reduction
in Zambia. For 14 years, CHILDHOPE has been working with children,
youths, women, families and communities. This has made CHILDHOPE
establish long-term working relationship with communities.
CHILDHOPE is transforming children’s lives in the rural
areas of Zambia by providing families/ communities with the
apparatus they need to reduce poverty.
While CHILDHOPE programmes are assorted its mission is extraordinary
by creating lasting, positive transforming in the lives of
children in need in Zambia. CHILDHOPE distinguishes its responsibility
as that of a means in community development issues. CHILDHOPE
addresses problems in education Child empowerment, health
and HIV/ AIDS, income generating activities,nutrition,Provision
of clean water and sanitation, Inclusive education and food
security among others. Innovation and experience in CHILDHOPE
activities has been the key to its success.
CHILDHOPE partners with foundations, individuals, government,
corporations, national and international organisations, well-wishers
and networks. CHILDHOPE work would have been impossible without
the huge openhandedness of many supporters. CHILDHOPE looks
forward to your continued support and dedication as we work
to ensure that children in the rural areas of Zambia receive
positive change and opportunity for their development in order
for them to become better citizens of the country
