. Lupando Mwape Profile by The Zambian Embassy in Beijing; edits by Eric Gondwe Dr Lupando Augustine Festus Katoloshi Mwape is the former Vice President of Zambia, from 2004 to 2006. Dr Mwape started his career as an engineer with EL, Dip Tech. Education, UK Airworthiness Certificate and posses an AME Certificate. He is a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (MEIZ).
HE Mr. Mwape started his political career in September 2000 when he was elected Member of Parliament. In May 2001, he was appointed Minister of Transport & Communication. He concurrently served Chairman of Africa Telecommunication Union (ATU); Member of the Zambia National Tender Board (ZNTB); Co-chair of TAZARA Council of Ministers and became Chair from 2002 - 2003;
Between June and October 2004, he was Provincial Minister of Zambia¡¯s Northern province. At Party level, he Co-opted MMD Northern Province Vice-Chairman and became Chairman from April 2003. In October 2004, he Co-opted MMD National Trustee until July when he was elected MMD National Trustee the position he held until November 2006.
Dr Lupando Mwape served as the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia from October 2004 to October 2006.
As the current Resident Ambassador to P.R. China, Dr Lupando Augustine Festus K. Mwape is a Non-Residential Ambassador to DPR Korea, Thailand, Kingdom of Cambodia, Mongolia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Vietnam, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
